11 Days Uganda Birding Tour

Day 1:  Birding in Botanical Gardens
Upon arrival, meet and greet with the guide, check in at the Hotel. Birding in  the Botanical Gardens  – Entebbe with Over 150 resident bird species. The rain forest is located at the shores of Lake Victoria.

Day 2: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park 
After the breakfast, drive south west to Bwindi Impenetrable National . After you will transfer to your lodge.  Dinner & Overnight at the Lodge/Camp. FB

Day 3: Birding in Buhoma
After having breakfast, set out for a whole day birding  tour at Buhoma-Ivi trail looking out for species like Black Bee-Eater, Tinkerbirds and Barbets, Woodpeckers, African Broadbill, Greenbuls, White-bellied Robin-Chat, Red-throated Alethe, Chapin’s Flycatcher, Red-faced Woodland Warbler, Grauer’s Warbler,Mountain Masked Apalis, Bocage’s Bush-shrike, Luhder’s Bush-shrike, Pink-footed Puffback, Petit’s Cuckooshrike, Starlings, Sunbirds, Black-billed Weaver, Brown-capped weaver, among others. Dinner and overnight at Lodge/Camp. FB

Day 4:Birding at Muyuga Waterfall
Have your relaxed breakfast and start your whole day birding at Muyaga waterfall trail search for Bar-tailed Trogon, Black Bee-Eater, White-headed Wood-hoopoe, Tinkerbirds and Barbets, Woodpeckers, African Broadbill, assorted Greenbuls, White-bellied Robin-Chat, Red-throated Alethe, Chapin’s Flycatcher, Red-faced Woodland Warbler, Black-faced Rufous Warbler, Grauer’s Warbler, Short-tailed Warbler , Oberlander’s Ground Thrush ,Mountain Masked Apalis, Bocage’s Bush-shrike, Luhder’s Bush-shrike, Pink-footed Puffback, Petit’s Cuckooshrike, Starlings, Black-billed Weaver, Brown-capped weaver among other birds. Dinner and overnight at Lodge/Camp. FB

Day 5:Birding at Ruhija
|Enjoy your early morning breakfast, and transfer to Ruhija via the Neck with an enroute birding. Today, look out for Black Bee-eater, Red-throated Wryneck, Mountain Wagtail, Toro Olive-Greenbul, White-starred Robin, Olive Thrush, Cassin’s-grey Flycatcher, Red-faced Woodland Warbler, Grauer’s Warbler, Chubb’s Cisticola, Banded Prinia, Mountain Masked Apalis, Chestnut-throated Apalis, Collared Apalis, Stripe-breasted Tit, Grey Cuckoo-shrike, Sharpe’s Starling, Regal Sunbird, Strange Weaver, Dusky Twinspot, Yellow Bishop, Black-throated Seedeater among others. Dinner and overnight at Lodge/Camp. FB

Day 6:Birding at Mubwindi Swamp
Another day is here, have breakfast and embark on dirding at Mubwindi Swamp, looking out for species like the Black-billed Turaco, Western Green Tinkerbird, Fine-banded Woodpecker, African Green-Broadbill, Shelly’s Crimsonwing, Mountain Greenbul, Yellow-streaked Greenbul, African Hill Babbler, Mountain Illadopsis, Yellow-eyed Black Flycatcher, Mountain Yellow Warbler, Red-faced Woodland Warbler, Grauer’s Warbler, Chestnut-throated Apalis, Collared Apalis, Stripe-breasted Tit, Rwenzori Batis, Doherty’s Bush-shrike, Bar-tailed Trogon, Blue-headed Sunbird, Regal Sunbird and more. Dinner and overnight at Lodge/Camp. FB

Day 7:Birding in Kisoro Side
Have breakfast, and drive to Kisoro side and doing birding via Echuya forest , search for the Papyrus Yellow Warbler and Papyrus Canary if we are lucky, as well as Carruther’s Cisticola, Little Rush Warbler and Fawn-breasted Waxbill, Handsome Francolin, Olive Pigeon, Western Green Tinkerbird, Archer’s Robin-Chat, Kivu Ground Thrush, Dusky Blue Flycatcher, Mountain Masked Apalis, White-browed Crombec, Stripe-breasted Tit, Rwenzori Batis, Doherty’s Bush-shrike, Montane Oriole, White-napped Raven, Dusky Crimsonwing, Black-crowned Waxbill, Black-headed Waxbill among other birds. Dinner and overnight at the lodge/hotel in Kisoro.

Day 8:Gorilla Tracking
Have an early breakfast in preparation for one of the most unique wildlife experiences in the world, gorilla tracking. You will meet your guides at the ranger station at 8.00am who will then lead you deep into the forest to track the gorillas.  Once you find them in this mysterious wild, you will sit listening to them grumble at each other and cannot help but marvel at the sheer size of the dominant male, the silver back. You once again stay overnight at Lodge/Camp. FB. Dinner and overnight at the lodge/hotel in Kisoro. FB

Day 9: Birding in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
Looking out for Dusky Turtle Dove, Rwenzori Turaco, Cape Robin-Chat, White-eyed Slaty Flycatcher, Grassland Pipit, White-starred Robin, Common Stone Chat, Mountain Yellow Warbler, Mackinnon’s Fiscal, White-napped Raven, Lagden’s Bush-Shrike, Bronze Sunbird, Yellow-crowned Canary, Streaky Seedeater and try the elusive Shelly’s Crimson-wing among other birds. Dinner and overnight at the lodge/hotel in Kisoro. FB

Day 10:Birding in Lake Mburo National Park
After looking out for Bateleur, Crested Francolin, Emerald-spotted Wood Dove, Brown Parrot, Bare-faced Go-away-bird, Blue-napped Mousebird, African Grey Hornbill, Spot-flanked Barbet, Yellow-breasted Apalis, White-eyed Slaty Flycatcher, Stripe-breasted Tit, Mountain Masked Apalis, Rwenzori Batis, White-napped Raven, Fork tailed Drongo, Black-crowned Waxbill, and Black-headed Waxbill. Dinner and overnight at the Lodge. FB

Day 11: Departure
After breakfast, take a short game drive game drive which will enable you to see the zebras, topies, elands, impalas, buffaloes antelopes and other bird species. Visit Igongo cultural center and museum and have lunch before transferring to Kampala or to Entebbe to catch the flight back. HB
